Alice Neel

Alice Neel was an American portrait painter celebrated for her psychologically penetrating depictions of friends, neighbors, artists, and strangers in New York City. Her unflinching, expressionistic portraits made her an icon of feminist art and one of the twentieth century's greatest portraitists.
