Jean-Michel Basquiat

Exhibition Highlights

The show shares a major look at the drawings and works on paper of the legendary American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988). This exhibition marks the first time a show has focused entirely on his famous depictions of the human head, featuring many personal pieces that the artist chose to keep for himself during his lifetime.

Today, Basquiat is much more than just a figure in art history—he’s a global icon. As a young Black artist, he took the world by storm with his bold symbols and striking figures before tragically passing away at just 27. Since then, his legacy has only grown stronger, becoming a powerful part of the popular culture we know today.
