Exhibition Highlights

We invite you to discover the fascinating universe of Henri Matisse and to understand why his legacy remains so vibrant today. This exhibition offers an exciting journey through his life and his art: from his early self-portraits to the explosion of color and freedom of his famous final works.

Matisse did not just paint pictures; he reinvented our way of looking at the world. With a use of color that broke all molds, he dared to be different and to challenge the norms of his time to create a language of his own, full of light and emotion.

Throughout eight rooms, you will be able to enjoy a selection of exceptional works, most arriving directly from the prestigious Centre Pompidou. In this tour, you will see how Matisse's pieces converse with those of other creators whom he influenced: from the avant-garde movements in Germany and Russia to modern painting in the United States from the 1940s onwards. Come and see how Matisse's art changed the rules of the game forever!
