Erwin Wurm. Dreamers

Palazzo Fortuny is delighted to host the first major solo exhibition in Italy of renowned Austrian sculptor Erwin Wurm (1954).

Throughout his celebrated career, Wurm has completely reimagined what a sculpture can be, moving far beyond traditional statues to explore how we perceive shape, time, and the world around us.

For decades, Wurm has used clothing as a medium to solve sculptural puzzles, a creative path that beautifully echoes the visionary work of Mariano and Henriette Fortuny. He even views the very human experience of gaining or losing weight as a way to "sculpt" a form, creating clever illusions where bodies seem to grow or shrink right before your eyes. We invite you to experience this playful and thought-provoking collection that challenges our ideas of mass and space in the most unexpected ways.
