Fueled by the buzzing energy and shopping culture of post-World War II America, legendary artists—including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Chryssa, Richard Hamilton, and the duo Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen—found their sparks in the world around them, from comic strips and movies to shop windows and flashy ads.
