The museum is celebrating 50 years and for this big anniversary, they are bringing a massive, career-spanning exhibition of the legendary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama to Cologne in 2026.
Yayoi Kusama’s vibrant polka dots, whimsical pumpkins, and mesmerizing Infinity Mirror Rooms are favorites all over social media, she has become one of the most beloved artists of our time.
This exhibition invites on an incredible journey through her whole career, featuring over 300 pieces. You’ll see everything from her very first drawings made around 1934 to brand-new installations, covering a mix of painting, sculpture, fashion, and performance.
The show will take over the entire museum, stretching from our galleries out onto the rooftop terrace.
Can´t miss the brand-new immersive installation created just for this show—it features an Infinity Mirror Room that fills the largest hall.
