In the summer of 2026, ARoS is delighted to welcome 'As Seen Below', a breathtaking Skyspace dome created by James Turrell. This long-awaited opening marks the final and exciting piece of our museum's vision, The Next Level.
For over fifty years, James Turrell has explored how light and the sky can change the way we see the world around us. In this stunning new work —the largest Skyspace ever built within a museum— the artist unites light, space, and time to create a unique experience right here in Aarhus.
With an impressive dome 16 meters high and 40 meters in diameter, the installation is aligned with the summer solstice, turning the sky into a living artistic experience. Here there are no screens or images: only light, time, and perception in constant transformation.
Named by the artist himself, 'As Seen Below' invites you to look up and discover the sky in a completely new way.
