Van Gogh’s love for the shade grew while he was chasing the golden sunlight and warmth of Arles in the south of France. We begin the journey with his world-famous masterpiece, Sunflowers, before exploring how this radiant hue captured the imagination of fashion, music, and literature around the turn of the century.
