Prints by José Antonio Azpilikueta
Can you imagine an artistic encounter between the Basque gaze and the unmistakable atmosphere of Edward Hopper?
This selection of twelve prints by José Antonio Azpilikueta is a series born from a fascination with the scenes and light of the celebrated American painter, and it arrives at the museum thanks to the generous donation of the art editor José Ignacio Olave.
The origin of this project is a story of celebration: upon turning 70, Olave challenged Azpilikueta to illustrate his own stories. The artist accepted the challenge by creating twelve drawings inspired by iconic works by Hopper, achieving a unique visual dialogue between the drawings and the editor's personal narrative.
The portfolio "After Hopper (The American Night)" is not only a showcase of talent; it is the crowning achievement of Olave's three-decade publishing career, marked by his close collaboration with contemporary artists from our land.
A perfect opportunity to enjoy an artistic journey that unites Eibar, Bilbao, and the American imaginary.
