Exhibition Highlights
Come and discover ‘Back at ya’ at the Barbican, a vibrant exhibition featuring the works of Lynda Benglis and Alberto Giacometti. Benglis is celebrated for her lively, colorful shapes that feel both playful and full of life. In a special treat, she is sharing nearly 30 pieces that have never been seen by the public before, having spent years on the walls of her Santa Fe studio.
Crafted from handmade paper over chicken wire and finished with a touch of "cast sparkle," these works will be shown alongside some of Giacometti’s most iconic masterpieces.
This exhibition marks the final chapter of our Encounters: Giacometti series, where we pair today’s most exciting artists with the legendary Swiss sculptor (1901-1966). It’s the very first time these two have been exhibited together. Benglis has personally selected the Giacometti sculptures on display, creating a wonderful dialogue between her work and his.
While Benglis has been wowing audiences since the 1960s with her bold and organic forms, Giacometti is world-famous for his tall, thin figures that truly capture the human spirit. We invite you to step inside and explore the surprising, beautiful connections between these two masters of sculpture.
