Your Rainbow Panorama

Your Rainbow Panorama is a monumental circular walkway of colored glass installed atop the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum in Denmark, completed in 2011. The 150-meter-long, three-meter-wide elevated corridor encircles the museum's rooftop at a diameter of 52 meters, resting on slender columns 3.5 meters above the building. Its glass panels cycle through the full visible spectrum, transforming the city panorama of Aarhus into a continuously shifting chromatic experience as visitors walk through it.

Eliasson won an invited architectural competition in 2007 to create the piece, which has since become the defining icon of ARoS and one of the most recognizable works of public art in Scandinavia. The installation collapses the boundary between art and architecture, turning the act of looking at a city into a perceptual experiment. Visitors see the same skyline filtered through every hue of the rainbow depending on where they stand, making each viewpoint unique.
