Exhibition Highlights - What you’ll see
Studio Voltaire is delighted to welcome Japanese artist Aki Sasamoto (b. 1980, Kanagawa, Japan) for ‘Grilled Diagrams’, her very first solo exhibition in the UK.
Step inside a large-scale installation that is both an immersive sculpture and a live performance stage. At the center of the room sits a massive, custom-built griddle—a playful nod to the high-energy world of television cooking shows and busy street food carts. It’s a unique space where the kitchen and the art gallery become one.
During the opening and closing weeks of the exhibition, Sasamoto will bring the space to life through a series of live performances.
Watch as she uses the griddle as a canvas, turning the act of cooking into a choreographed dance of drawing and movement. By using ingredients to create ever-changing patterns, Sasamoto invites us to find the hidden poetry and beauty in the most ordinary parts of our daily lives.
