Exhibition Highlights - What you’ll see

Are you passionate about chess? Eduardo Ponjuán (Pinar del Río, 1956), 2013 National Prize for Visual Arts winner, invites us to discover his new solo exhibition: Ruy Lopez Opening. The title pays tribute to one of the most famous moves in this mental sport, a hobby that the artist lives and practices with true passion.

Through about 15 pieces, mainly large-format drawings and installations, the exhibition opens the doors to the secrets of Ponjuán's creative process. After a year and a half of work, the artist offers us a vibrant journey where art history parades before our eyes. You will find nods to great masters such as Goya, Picasso, Velázquez, or Van Gogh, and of course to Duchamp, who found in chess the perfect blend of intellectual rigor and the emotion of chance.
