Exhibition Highlights
Erwin Wurm (1954), austrian, has radically expanded conceptions of sculpture, space and the human form. His sculptures straddle abstraction and representation, presenting familiar objects in a surprising and inventive way that prompts viewers to consider them in a new light.
Step into the playful world of Erwin Wurm in his largest solo show yet at Thaddaeus Ropac Paris Pantin. This exhibition, titled Tomorrow: Yes, takes over the gallery's entire space and features two massive, eye-catching installations: a squashed schoolhouse and a six-meter-tall sailing boat that’s been strangely bent.
Most of the artworks on display are being shown for the very first time, crafted from materials like marble, bronze, and aluminum. The show brings together some of Wurm’s most famous series, including his iconic One Minute Sculptures, which invite you to join in and become part of the art yourself. By playing with these shapes, Wurm shows us that sculpture doesn't have to be stiff or still—it can be imaginative and full of life.
We invite you to walk inside School (2024), a piece that reimagines a traditional 19th-century village schoolhouse. Inside its narrow walls, you’ll find vintage posters of French school lessons from long ago. By stepping inside and participating, you help finish the work, turning these 'living sculptures' into a unique experience. Come and see how Wurm turns traditional art on its head in this welcoming and thought-provoking show.
