Contemporary Art, PhotoExhibition Highlights
Step into the world of American Images, a heartfelt celebration of the photography of Dutch artist Dana Lixenberg (born 1964). Over the past thirty years, Dana has put together a deeply moving collection that feels like a vibrant, living portrait of the United States. Here, everyone is treated with the same warmth and respect—from world-famous stars to everyday people whose stories we don’t often get to hear.
When Dana first arrived in New York in 1989, she looked at the country through the curious eyes of an outsider. She doesn't just snap a photo and leave; she builds real trust and takes the time to truly connect with the people she meets. This approach gives us a much more personal and honest look at the American Dream than what we usually see in the headlines, and it feels just as relevant today as when she first started.
For Dana, it’s always about the person, not their social status. She has a special gift for showing the relatable side of celebrities and the quiet strength of ordinary individuals. By noticing the smallest details—the gentle tilt of a head or the way an arm rests—she creates clear, powerful portraits that celebrate the unique presence of every single person. We invite you to come and see the world through her lens.
