Josef Albers: Duets

This exhibition features a wonderful selection of paintings and works on paper created between the 1930s and the 1970s, all centered on Albers’s lifelong fascination with pairs.

In these works, Albers explores how two related shapes or paintings can be nearly identical yet feel completely different. He invites us to notice how simple shifts in color or structure can change our entire perspective, turning a familiar form into something brand new. It is a beautiful look at how two things can be the same, but also wonderfully unique.
