Meriem Bennani. Sole crushing

Step inside Lafayette Anticipations and discover a building transformed into a giant musical instrument by artist Meriem Bennani (born in Rabat, 1988). In her latest solo exhibition, Bennani has turned the entire space into a vibrant sound box for all to enjoy.

As you wander through the floors, you’ll encounter Sole Crushing, an installation featuring over two hundred flip-flops that have quite literally come to life. These shoes strike various surfaces to play a unique composition—a rhythmic blend of a classic symphony and a lively riot. It’s a surprising, percussive experience that invites us to think about how we come together as a community and the special place each of us holds within it.
