Contemporary Art, PaintingExhibition Highlights
We invite you to explore Oxygenic, a new exhibition by Glasgow-born artist Victoria Morton (b. 1971). In this collection, Morton treats her paintings like pieces of music, arranging them to work beautifully both as individual pieces and as a complete group. The works on display are full of variety—some are bold and energetic, while others offer a moment of quiet reflection.
This series grew out of Morton’s recent move to a new studio, a space that she feels has given her "more air and more room to breathe." You can see this sense of freedom in her process: some paintings were created in quick, instinctive bursts, while others were built up slowly over many months. Rather than telling a single, straight story, these works invite you to find your own path through them.
Oxygenic represents the latest chapter in Morton’s career-long fascination with the language of painting. It is a thoughtful look at how she balances deep research with the raw, personal experience of making art.
