Exhibition Highlights

Starting in December 2025, Palais Galliera invites you behind the scenes to discover the incredible artistry of Parisian fashion. This is the first of three special exhibitions celebrating the craftsmanship that brings fashion to life. We’ve opened up our stunning collections to give you a whole new look at how fashion has evolved from the 1700s right through to today.

This first chapter focuses on the delicate arts used to decorate and transform clothing—from intricate weaving and printing to embroidery, lace, and handmade flowers. To show off these skills, we’ve chosen a timeless favorite: the flower. You’ll see how floral patterns have changed over the centuries, playing with different textures, colors, and shapes inspired by nature. Explore everything from the rich brocade of an 18th-century waistcoat to modern laser-printed designs by Balenciaga. You’ll find delicate Chantilly lace alongside Gabrielle Chanel’s iconic camellia, uncovering both the amazing techniques and the hidden meanings behind every bloom.

With more than 350 items on display—including stunning dresses, accessories, photography, and even the tools of the trade—the exhibition brings together legendary haute couture names and exciting new designers. You’ll even get to see unique pieces created specifically for this show.
