Welcome to the first major solo exhibition of Dorothy Iannone’s work in Spain. The show’s title comes from the phrase “over and over again,” reflecting the unstoppable energy and big-hearted spirit Dorothy brought to her life and art. She saw her work as one long, continuous story, and we have organized this exhibition into six sections to help you dive into her wonderful creative world.
Dorothy Iannone (1933–2022) was a true trailblazer. She was one of the first artists to put female desire at the center of her work—a bold move that often saw her facing off against censors. Though she originally studied literature and taught herself how to make art, she became a key figure in the famous Fluxus and conceptual art circles of the 1960s.
In this collection, you will see how Dorothy played with everything from painting and drawing to video, sculpture, and even sound pieces featuring her own voice. Her work is a feast of bright colors and handwritten text, speaking openly and honestly about love and sexuality. By blending her own life stories with inspirations like Japanese prints, ancient mosaics, and Egyptian art, she created a style that feels both mystical and deeply personal.
