Exhibition Highlights
We invite you to step into the poetic world of José María Sicilia at the Liria Palace. For this special occasion, the artist has created a series of new paintings and a unique, site-specific installation designed to live within the palace’s most historic rooms.
José María Sicilia is celebrated for an abstract style that is deeply emotional and full of meaning. Using soft shapes and glowing colors, he explores big ideas like nature, memory, and time. A key figure in the art world since the 1980s, Sicilia doesn’t just tell a story; he creates a space for you to slow down and simply feel the art.
For this exhibition, Sicilia has spent time "listening" to the quiet stories hidden within the palace walls. His new pieces are woven into the very fabric of the building, creating a fresh conversation between the historic Casa de Alba Collection and the world we live in today.
You will also find works from earlier in his career, offering a look at how his use of symbols and memories has evolved over the decades. Seeing these pieces in such a grand setting gives them a new life, continuing the palace's long tradition of celebrating world-class art.
Throughout the show, Sicilia captures the spirit of the Baroque through layers of rich detail and hidden meanings. By playing with light and silence, he finds a way to make the invisible feel real, turning quiet, fragile moments into something you can almost touch.
