La Neomudéjar is one of Madrid’s most distinctive contemporary art spaces, known for its experimental, critical, and often politically charged programming. Founded in 2013, it is located in a former railway warehouse near Atocha station, an industrial setting that strongly shapes its raw and alternative identity.
Focused on new media, installation, performance, sound art, and socially engaged practices, La Neomudéjar positions itself outside the commercial art circuit. It gives visibility to emerging and independent artists while addressing themes such as memory, power, gender, migration, and historical trauma. The space also has a strong curatorial voice, frequently engaging with activism and countercultural narratives. As an independent institution, La Neomudéjar plays a key role in Madrid’s underground art scene, offering a platform for risk-taking artistic practices that challenge conventional museum formats.
