Contemporary Art, SculptureExhibition Highlights
Come and discover the world of Eduardo Chillida, one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century. This exhibition is a wonderful chance to get up close with his most iconic works and see how his vision shaped modern art.
You’ll find 102 pieces on display, showcasing the incredible range of Chillida’s talent. The collection features everything from intimate drawings and portraits to the powerful, large-scale sculptures he’s so famous for, crafted from a variety of different materials.
Born in Gipuzkoa (1924–2002), Chillida was a master of both sculpture and engraving, known for placing his massive works in public spaces and natural settings. His brilliant career earned him many honors, including the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts (1981), the Europäischer der Künste Award (1983), the Grand Prix des Arts et Letres of Paris (1984), and the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts (1987). He spent his final years creating the beautiful Chillida Leku Museum at the Zabalaga farmhouse in Hernani—a lasting home for his creative legacy.
