Lola Lasurt «Still Deep Song»

In this exhibition, the artist Lola Lasurt invites us to immerse ourselves in a fascinating dialogue between dance and the canvas. Through her series Rehearsal for Deep Song, presented in its entirety for the first time in the Sala de Bóvedas, Lasurt transforms the energy of movement into brushstrokes full of life. In fact, to create these works, the artist herself needed to dance the choreography before starting to paint, turning the creative act into a truly physical experience.

As is common in her work, Lasurt rescues an episode from our history—the link between dance and the Spanish Civil War—and brings it into the present. It is not just about remembering, but rather an invitation to reflect on what those gestures from the past tell us today and how they resonate in our present.
