About the Artwork
Damien Hirst's For the Love of God is a provocative and undeniably opulent memento mori. At its core lies a platinum cast of an 18th-century human skull, meticulously adorned with a staggering 8,601 flawless diamonds. The centrepiece is the Skull Star Diamond, a pear-shaped pink diamond set in the forehead. Even the teeth are real, purchased by Hirst in London. The diamonds alone cost approximately 15 million pounds.
